This monthly series will focus on the Jamila L1 format from the Salimpour School of Belly Dance. Perfect for students who want to prepare for September Jamila L1 workshop during Essence of Belly Dance September 18-22, 2019. it is not required to attend each monthly class but recommended. Bring your finger cymbals!!!
In this monthly class, dancers learn the basics of the Jamila format from the Salimpour school: step families, dance history, and finger cymbal work. This format also covers identification of muscle contractions involved for movement execution and isolation of muscle groups. Class suitable for all levels.

Béatrice is a member of the Georgia Salimpour Collective. She is currently Suhaila L3 and Jamila L2 certified and is pursuing her Jamila L3 certification. Along with the members of the Collective, Béatrice toured this year for the 50th anniversary of Bal Anat, the oldest and globally influential belly dance troupe in the world, Troupe Bal Anat, founded by belly dance innovator Jamila Salimpour in 1968, and now under the direction of master choreographer and dancer Suhaila Salimpour the legendary directed by Suhaila Salimpour. Before moving to Atlanta, she was a troupe member of the Austin-based Tekatek Dance Ensemble, directed by Stacey Lizette, with which she had the opportunity to dance locally, Texas-wide and with the Belly Dance Super Stars for Club Belly Dance. She also taught weekly classes in Nashville, TN where she lived for two years.
